Blood Rage Gods of Asgard
The Gods of Asgard expansion for Blood Rage contains some of the game’s most iconic miniatures, and this commission gave us the opportunity to paint each deity with its own distinct identity while maintaining a unified look across the collection. Painted at our Level 4 quality, every model features high-contrast highlights, carefully blended colors, expressive faces, and detailed bases that reinforce the personality of each Norse god.
A defining feature of this Blood Rage commission painting project is the consistent use of bright NMM gold across the entire set. From armor plates and jewelry to decorative ornaments, the warm gold ties the collection together while allowing each character to retain a unique palette and atmosphere. Although every model tells its own story, they clearly belong to the same army displayed on the tabletop.
Tyr immediately draws attention with his radiant golden armor standing above a dramatic volcanic base crossed by glowing streams of lava. His sword mirrors the environment, transitioning from bright yellow near the blade’s core into deep black at the edges, creating the impression of a weapon forged in the heart of Muspelheim. The contrast between the fiery base and the polished armor makes him one of the brightest models in the collection.
Thor follows the same golden theme but shifts the mood toward storm and thunder. His icy blue hammer echoes the glow of his piercing eyes, while vivid green lightning spreads across the dark base beneath his feet. The cold blues contrasted against warm ginger hair and brilliant gold create a palette that feels powerful without becoming overwhelming.
Seated upon an intricately carved wooden throne, Odin serves as the calm center of the collection. The detailed wood grain, weathered facial features, and carefully painted beard emphasize his age and wisdom, while the ravens and spear leave little doubt that the Allfather is watching. After all, wisdom often comes at a price.
Loki introduces richer reds, oranges, and his unmistakable green cloak, instantly recognizable to any fan of Norse mythology. His expressive face and confident pose capture the Trickster perfectly, proving that mischief rarely needs elaborate scenery.
The darker side of the pantheon appears through Hel, whose deep purple robes provide the perfect backdrop for bright golden ornaments and the vivid green serpent wrapped around her. The high contrast keeps the miniature readable while preserving the mysterious atmosphere expected of the ruler of Helheim.
Perhaps the centerpiece of the entire set is Heimdall. Unlike the other gods, he relies less on gold and more on dramatic lighting. His glowing ice-blue sword casts cool reflections across his robes, legs, snowy base, and surrounding rocks, while the finely painted blonde hair and realistic facial features complete one of the most atmospheric miniatures in the project.
Finally, Frigga provides a brighter conclusion with flowing yellow robes, warm brown hair, and elegant gold decorations that subtly blend into the fabric rather than dominating it. Standing on a peaceful grassy base with shield and sword in hand, she balances the darker and more dramatic figures surrounding her.
Together these gods form a colorful and cohesive Blood Rage commission painting project that celebrates the distinct personalities of the Norse pantheon while remaining unmistakably part of the same army. Whether it is Odin’s wisdom, Thor’s fury, Loki’s schemes, or Heimdall’s eternal vigilance, every model was painted to capture the spirit of its legend. As the sagas remind us, the fate of the Nine Realms is never decided by ordinary heroes.
