This large Death Korps of Krieg army was painted to create a dark, cohesive force with the feel of a Krieg regiment fighting through an industrial warzone. Because of the size of the army, the infantry, weapon teams, and artillery were painted at our Level 2 standard, while the officers, vehicles, and Death Riders were given a Level 3 finish. This approach keeps the whole army consistent while giving the larger and more important models some extra definition.

The main color scheme is built around dark charcoal and black uniforms and armor, with deep red used for the smaller details. Red appears on the lapels, trouser stripes, cuffs, and weapon casings, giving the otherwise dark army a consistent accent color. Tan leather was used for the boots, belts, webbing, and backpacks, adding some variation without taking away from the grim appearance of the regiment. The Death Riders continue the same palette, with brown horses underneath their dark armored riders.

All of the models are mounted on dark urban rubble bases. Broken concrete, discarded equipment, coiled barbed wire, and torn Krieg propaganda posters help tie the whole collection together and give the infantry a consistent battlefield setting. The bases are deliberately dark and fairly muted, allowing the red details on the uniforms and weapons to stand out.

The armored section includes two Leman Russ battle tanks painted to match the rest of the regiment. Both tanks were fully magnetized, allowing their weapon options to be changed depending on the army list. This is particularly useful for a large commission like this, where keeping the models flexible can make a big difference over many games.

The army itself contains a wide range of Death Korps units, including dozens of infantry, command squads, Commissars, heavy weapons teams, and several types of artillery. Mortars, heavy bolters, autocannons and heavy stubbers provide additional fire support, while the Earthshaker carriage, Thudd Guns and Hades Breaching Drill add some much heavier firepower.

The Death Korps of Krieg are all about fighting on regardless of the conditions, and this army was painted to match that character. Mud, rubble, barbed wire and shell casings are right at home here. For Krieg, there is always another trench to take.
